We are the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) chapter at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). Located in the Midwest, SHPE at UIC has been around for more than 40 years by providing our familia with professional, academic, and networking opportunities to grow and thrive in the evolving STEM world.

What We Do
We focus on empowering our members and community by following our 5 pillars. Our events and workshops relate to at least one pillar in the interest of building well-rounded leaders.
1- Academic Development
successful graduation through improving academic habits and/or pursuing an advanced degree education in STEM.
2- Professional Development
practicing soft skills, improving technical skills, and building professional networks.
3- Leadership Development
developing leadership skills of members, ensuring a solid foundation of leaders within the executive board and the successful transition of officers.
4- Chapter Development
promoting recruitment/retention of members, funding support, and chapter strength in the local community.
5- Outreach & Community Service
promoting STEM awareness in the K-12 community and/or supporting the local community.
